The hinged platform for access on the buffers of rail tankers for oil products improves substantially the operator’s access conditions to the coupling/uncoupling system of the steam hose, providing a stable and anti-slip work platform.
The use of the platform in conjunction with a set of personal protective equipment against fall (consisting of a safety harness, a lanyard and one anchoring hook) provides the user’s protection against falling from height during the coupling/uncoupling operations of the steam hose to the crude oil tankers.
Thus, after climbing of the platform access ladder, the operator can become protected against the fall from height by the connection of the anchoring hook of the lanyard, connected to the front ring of the harness, to the outer pipe of the steam heating system of the rail tanker.
The hinged platform consists of four hinged sections:
– One section provided with rungs and adjustable extension pieces for support on the line embankment, as access ladder to the upper platform
– Two intermediate sections provided with grates that compose the upper platform
– One last section, hook-shaped, which provides the fastening of the platform on one of the buffers of the tank car
During work, the upper platform is supported by the two buffers of the tanker and can be used by a single operator.
The grates of intermediate sections have anti-slip surfaces and are provided with holes for the drainage of crude oil that may occur accidentally during the rail tankers discharge operations.
