The aluminum modular extensible ladder is a technical equipment used for climbing up and down and work at height on wooden or concrete poles (with round or rectangular section) of low and medium voltage electrical distribution networks, telephone networks or urban or railway electrical transport networks.

The modular ladder can be used by a single person, only in vertical position, fastened to the pole. The ladder is also completely safe in case the poles are wet or covered in ice.

The modular extensible ladder for poles consists of the following elements:

  • Base section (length 1,5 m / 5 rungs)
  • Multiple intermediate sections (maximum 10 sections length 1,5 m / 5 rungs, one section with length 0,9 m / 3 rungs)
  • Top section (length 1,3 m / 5 rungs)
  • Work platform (optional)

This constructive model allows the use of the ladder by a team consisting of 2 workers (unlike the older model, where the ladder can be structured by a team consisting of 4 – 5 workers).

The base section is provided with two profiled support elements.
The other sections are provided at their upper part with a profiled support element that provides a constant distance between the ladder and the pole.
The base section has the rails provided with rubber anti-slip caps, and it is fastened by means of two special devices (consisting of an anchoring strap, an actuation device with ratchet and a snap hook).
The upper sections are fastened to the pole with a special ratchet device and an anchoring strap provided with a snap hook.

Rails and rungs of the sections are made of tubular aluminium profiles with superior mechanical properties, and the support assembly (consisting of the guiding bushings and profiled support elements) are made of steel, assembled by welding and protected against corrosion by zinc coating.

With regard to base and intermediate sections, the highest rung and lanyards attached to the rails are painted red, in order to warn the operator with regard to the positioning of a junction between two sections:
– When climbing up, the operator must not exceed the red rung of the lower section until the upper section is assembled and completely fastened to the pole;
– When climbing down, the operator must not commence the disassembly of the upper section prior to stepping on or below the red rung of the lower section.

The ratchet actuator of the anchoring strap and the snap hook are made of steel and zinc-coated against corrosion.

Anchoring straps are manufactured from polyamide or polyester fibers.

The work platform is a welded construction, made exclusively from aluminium alloy, provided with a profiled element which can be used to attach any rung.

The ladder does not have any safety systems to prevent the worker from falling, the worker must use on climbing up/down – work on the ladder adequate protective means (system consisting of a hook or another anchoring device + flexible anchoring support + sliding fall arrester + safety harness).
